Our Aim

The “Polygenic Risk Score” Research Group at Alfaisal University is developing bioinformatics software to identify genetic factors linked to specific phenotypes, particularly in mental health. The software also uncovers shared genetic mutations across disorders. Psychiatric diseases, often lifelong and overlapping in genotype and phenotype, burden patients, healthcare providers, and families. Early diagnosis and intervention can be achieved by calculating the polygenic risk score (PRS), which predicts disease risk associated with specific genetic variations. The process starts with patient sequencing data and ends with a report identifying the risk of specific mental illnesses.
